Hi,

I have used my USB licence to create Livetraker songs on my desktop PC. When I copy the song files to my laptop, which I will use for live performances, some of the songs cannot be edited. As soon as I select Edit Song, the program freezes.

I have tried a lot of things, replacing the songs with fresh copies from my desktop, editing the XML P4 files, etc. But these songs cannot be edited on my laptop.

This is huge problem for live performance, where I will need to mute tracks or change audio levels at different times.

Can you please help with this? I can send copies of the songs if you need them.

Regards,

Andrew Bell

Hi Andrew

before start reply, let me give yuo a little suggestion for the future:  when you ask for tech issues here, it's better to report specific tech informations, for example Operating System used, How the Usb was formatted, if the desktop has the same permission, if you did it with administrator on main computer and so on... 😉

all that said, your issue is something not related to livetraker but support you used, or better, the persmission they may have.

from your description it is clear that livetraker was NOT able to write files correctly because dont have the necessary permission

this is something related to your operating system, no livetraker (wich use your permission files as they are)

@mfstaff

Hi, and thanks for your reply.

As I said, I'm using the same USB dongle on my desktop and my laptop. Out of 22 songs that I have put together in LiveTraker, 6 will not edit on the laptop. The others all edit perfectly. All the files edit successfully on my desktop.

The computers are both PCs running Win 7 Pro, and the dongle is formatted FAT32. Its capacity is 16 GB, of which 14.4 GB is still available.

I did not make any effort to edit as administrator, but having said that, I am the administrator of the desktop. The laptop has no login, so I'm not whether I am the administrator of that computer.

Perhaps you can help by telling me what the permissions need to be, and where I would set that for the songs that don't edit.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

can you please try this on your laptop:

Turn on the "high DPI scaling override" in the Windows compatibility settings. Check the box and select "system enhanced".

maybe this could be your solution 🙂

best regards
Jens

@jens

Thanks for your reply. So, that was interesting. I learned a lot about regedit.

The option in Win 7 is "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings". This is switched off on both computers. On the laptop it is also greyed out, but I succeeded in editing the registry to force it on. Unfortunately LiveTraker crashes on startup when running from the USB stick. When running from the laptop hard disk it starts OK, but the songs that couldn't edit before still cause the application to freeze.

The option "high DPI scaling override" is not visible in the Compatibility settings for the application.

Do you have any other suggestions? By the way I checked that I am running the laptop as administrator, and that the application has normal access i.e. not Read-only.

Regards,

Andrew

Is there any chance of a reply on this issue soon?

I now know that my desktop PC can work on the same songs without any problem, even across my home network, accessing the song files and audio data from the laptop hard disk. That suggests that it's a configuration issue on the laptop. Can you suggest anything I should look for?

Regards,

Andrew

Hi Andrew

it is very difficult for us to try suggest a solution, but we're reasonably sure there is something need to be to fixed on permissione file and/on moving these

be su to have all permission to read/write as admin on these files

you can also try to move some file from desktop using different external devices and check if the problem show up any time or just with specific media used

it is not an excatscience, you need to find what is the media that do not permit you to RW such spcific files

try and let us know 😉
